The counter-offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces “failed completely.” Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this in an interview with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.
“As for the counter-offensive, which is allegedly stalled, it has already failed completely,” the Russian leader noted. He also warned that Kyiv was preparing new operations at the front. “We know that in certain areas of hostilities the opposing side is preparing new active offensive actions. We see it, we know it. And we react to this accordingly,” Putin added.
According to him, the Russian military is confidently defending itself and occupying advantageous positions. “What is happening now throughout the contact is called active defense. And our troops are improving their position throughout this entire area, quite a large area. This applies to both the Kupyansky and Zaporozhye directions, and this also applies to the Avdeevsky direction,” the president noted.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu called the counteroffensive a failure.
Let us remind you that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army began in June of this year. The day before, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky admitted that the counteroffensive is not proceeding at the pace we would like, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to him, intend to continue the counteroffensive in the winter. According to The New York Times, Russia occupied 302 square meters. km more than Ukraine managed to occupy.
