Russian political scientist Natalya Narochnitskaya said that she was deported from Moldova on the night of December 9-10. According to her, writes TASS, this is due to the fact that she was supposed to attend the presidential elections in the unrecognized republic of Transnistria as an observer from the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.
Narochnitskaya said that she arrived at the Chisinau airport shortly after midnight on December 10, was interrogated for an hour and a half, and after that she was taken by car directly to the plane. At the same time, the formal reason for sending back was that she “could not confirm the legitimate purpose of the trip.”
The social activist called the incident “a slap in the face of Russia,” RBC notes.
A little later, it became known that another member of the OP, Vladimir Zhuravlev, was not allowed to enter Moldova.
Soon after reports of these events, the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI) urged foreign countries to refuse to send observers to the “illegitimate and zero” presidential elections in Transnistria, scheduled for December 12. As the press secretary of the foreign ministry Daniel Voda said on his Facebook, “any participation in such processes is viewed as a challenge to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and undermines the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict”.
