In response to every “light strike” and house bombing by Israel, Hamas will execute one Israeli hostage. This statement was made by the official representative of the military wing of the movement, Abu Ubaida, Reuters reports.
At the same time, The Times of Israel, citing high-ranking sources in Israel, writes that the IDF military decided to strike the Gaza Strip even in cases where this would potentially pose a threat to the hostages held there.
“A senior Israeli government official told reporters that authorities have decided they will carry out heavy strikes against terrorists in Gaza, even if it poses a risk to Israelis held there,” the newspaper reported. It is noted that in cases where verified information is received that there are definitely hostages in a particular building in Gaza, then in such cases Israeli military strikes will not be carried out. “However, in all cases where such detailed information is not available, strikes will be carried out against all Hamas targets,” the article says.
Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen previously said that Hamas militants had captured more than 100 people over the past three days.
