The Israeli army announced its readiness for war and launched strikes on the Gaza Strip

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared its readiness for war in response to rocket attacks. “Israeli territory was widely fired with rockets from Gaza, and terrorists entered Israeli territory through various entry points,” the army said in a statement on Telegram, as quoted by Interfax.

The military also reported that the Israeli army was striking targets in the Gaza Strip.
“The Israel Defense Forces are currently striking the Gaza Strip. Details will follow,” the message noted.

It is also specified that roads around the enclave are blocked. The measures were taken against the backdrop of rocket attacks and terrorist infiltration into Israeli border settlements, the IDF explained. They added that it was decided to switch to alternative routes in areas along the perimeter of the security fence around the Gaza Strip.

Let us remind you that the Israeli Defense Forces were previously put on alert. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced a massive call-up of reservists. After the end of the operational meeting at the country’s Ministry of Defense, he said that “Hamas made a serious mistake this morning and started a war against the state of Israel.” According to him, Israel Defense Forces soldiers are fighting at all enemy penetration points. “The State of Israel will win this war,” Galant added.

On the morning of October 7, it was reported that an air raid alert had been declared in the central and southern parts of Israel, as well as in the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip. The country’s army said that Israel came under rocket fire. It was also clarified that “several terrorists with firearms entered Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip.” The Jerusalem Post, citing Israeli doctors, reports that one rocket hit the Gederot Regional Council building, killing a woman in her 60s. Dozens of people were also injured – according to media reports, more than 100 were injured.

Let us remind you that the Gaza Strip borders the southwestern part of Israel and is under the control of the Palestinian Islamist movement, which Israel accuses of terrorism and creating threats to its security.
