Marcin Pawłowski was born on September 30, 1971 in Kielce. He started his adventure in high school, writing for the school newspaper “Nota Bene”. When he was 19, he started collaborating with “Echem Dnia”, where he published his first articles. Later, he wrote for the sports section of the “Nowy Świat” newspaper and began to contribute to Radio Kolor.
He found fulfillment in his private and professional life. The disease ruined all his plans and dreams
His television career began with his work at the Warsaw Television Center. Later he became involved with , leading, among others, “Filmidło” magazine together with Karolina Korwin-Piotrowska. – He didn’t know anything about film, but he was relaxed and natural. It was a bull’s-eye, she said in an interview with the journalist. In 1997, however, he ended his cooperation with the station and moved to TVN, taking the place of Tomasz Lis in “Fakty”. First, he hosted the weekend and holiday editions of the program, and finally started the main edition, talking about political and social topics. His professional journey was constantly supported by his wife, Aleksandra, whom he met at the Western Bus Station. – He would wait for me until five in the morning in front of the building with flowers – she said in an interview with “Press”. They got married in 1993, and 4 years later they welcomed their daughter, Zuzanna.
In 2002, 5 years after his debut in “Facts”, he unexpectedly stopped appearing on screen. Few knew what caused it. Only later did it come to light that doctors had diagnosed him with a malignant tumor. He was treated, among others, in Switzerland, where he received strong and expensive chemotherapy. However, the effects were negligible and his condition continued to deteriorate. Knowing that there was little chance of recovery, he decided to return to work. – He did not intend to spend the last months of his life glued to a hospital bed – his father, Antoni Pawłowski.
Marcin Pawłowski lost his unequal battle with cancer. He died at the age of 33
As he planned, so he did. In 2004, he returned to the air, but viewers noticed his changed appearance, which he decided to correct. – I owe you a word of explanation. We’re seeing each other for the first time after a six-month break, and it’s hard not to notice that I’ve changed a bit. It’s true, I’m sick, and an important part of fighting my illness is work, so I decided to go back to work. My doctors, bosses, colleagues understand this. I hope you will also understand – in the program. It was obvious that his duties gave him strength, also in his struggle with the disease. His heroic fight was followed by the whole of Poland until September 10, 2004, when he appeared on TV for the last time.
Although his condition was deteriorating day by day and his relatives were prepared for the worst, the news of his death was a shock for many. Marcin Pawłowski died on November 20, 2004 in Warsaw at the age of 33. His wife conveyed the tragic information to his colleagues from TVN. – We believed so much that everything would be fine that when Ola, his wife, called me on Saturday morning, I thought she was calling about some simple matter. Now I think that Marcin knew, he just didn’t want to worry us – said Tomasz Sianecki. Aleksandra Pawłowska could not recover for a long time after her husband’s death. She didn’t say a word during the funeral. Her 7-year-old daughter kept her alive at the time. – Ola would give the whole world just for Marcin to recover – said the journalist’s mother in “Echo Dnia”.
