Autoexpert Shumsky: Switching a driver from a machine gun to a mechanic without the appropriate license threatens with a large fine

Driving a car with a manual gearbox is subject to a heavy fine for drivers who have passed the exam on an automatic gearbox.

As Alexander Shumsky, the head of Traffic.Net, explained in his Telegram channel, training in mechanics and an automatic machine are different, therefore, after training on the machine, a driver’s license is issued, in which the “AT” mark will be in the column “special marks”.

“To go with such a mark on the mechanics is a violation, for which you face a fine in the amount of 5,000 to 15,000 rubles (Article 12.7 of the Administrative Code). The action qualifies as driving a vehicle by a driver who does not have the right to drive, ”explained Shumsky.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Health approved a new procedure for issuing medical certificates for drivers. From March 1, 2022, it is planned to increase the volume of surveys carried out for some categories of drivers.

Also recently, the State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill on the abolition of mandatory technical inspection. It is proposed to expand the list of vehicles for which the technical inspection is voluntary. Now it includes all cars (except for passenger taxis), motor vehicles and trucks up to 3.5 tons, from the year of production of which no more than 4 years have passed. The amendments propose to extend this provision to passenger cars (except for passenger taxis) and motor vehicles over 4 years old, provided that they belong to individuals and are not used by them for official and commercial purposes.
