Epidemiologist Ruzhentsova: Severe weakness may be a symptom of the omicron strain

One of the symptoms of the mysterious Omicron strain COVID-19 is severe weakness. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the deputy director for clinical work of the Moscow Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after G.N. Gabrichevsky Rospotrebnadzor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Tatyana Ruzhentsova.

Other symptoms of “omicron”, named by Tatyana Ruzhentsova – fever up to 38 C and above, headaches, loss of appetite, cough. They can also be accompanied by lesions of the lungs and other organs typical for COVID-19.

As for children, apart from the above-mentioned manifestations, they may also have a rash as a symptom of omicron. This was reported by a junior researcher at the clinical department, a general practitioner at the Moscow Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after G.N. Gabrichevsky Rospotrebnadzor Daria Khavkina. Foreign experts also cite similar data.

Tatyana Ruzhentsova emphasizes that there is still little information about the symptoms accompanying infection with the omicron strain, but in the near future there should be more.

The new omicron coronavirus strain with increased mobility has been found in more than 55 countries, including Russia. Although the omicron has sowed panic in world markets and raised fears of a new wave of infections, the degree of its lethality remains unknown.
