In the Moscow region, a man, escaping from a police chase, opened fire and killed one of the law enforcement officers. The attacker was wounded during the shootout. Based on the incident, a criminal case has been opened regarding an encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer and the illegal acquisition of weapons, the press service of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region reported. The department published a photo from the scene of the incident.
It all happened last Friday evening, September 15, in Solnechnogorsk. Traffic police officers noticed a Mercedes car without state registration plates on the road and tried to stop the driver, but he continued driving. As a result, a chase was organized. During the pursuit, the driver stopped near the village of Vertlino, got out of the car and fired a pistol at one of the police officers. The victim died from his injuries at the scene.
The shooter was wounded by return fire. He is currently in hospital.
According to MK, the shot was made in the chest at close range from a Walter pistol. The publication found out that the shooter has debts to pay for traffic violations in the amount of 3,500 rubles – a total of eight unpaid fines and another 34 paid.
