The complaints were presented by legislator Diego Ordóñez (CREO) against assembly members Fausto Jarrín and Ronny Aleaga.
Legislators Fausto Jarrín and Ronny Aleaga (UNES) were denounced for committing a serious offense by calling it “vomitive” and threatening legislator Diego Ordóñez (CREO), who asked the Legislative Administration Council (CAL) to apply the maximum sanction established for the serious penalties, which is suspension, without remuneration, of up to 90 days.
In the complaint against Fausto Jarrín, legislator Ordóñez complains about a tweet published by the accused assemblyman on November 5, 2021, addressed to the account @diegordonezg, in which he says he offends him with the qualifier “vomitive” and that it’s gross”. That the two expressions are violent, that they are expressions that serve to qualify immoral or criminal conduct, grievances that were exposed before 56,834 followers of the assembly member against whom the complaint is directed.
The insults uttered by Assemblyman Jarrín are written word aggressions that are framed as a serious offense in the rule in Article 170.1 of the Law of the Legislative Function, Assemblyman Ordóñez maintains, for which he asks to apply the maximum of the sanction, which is the suspension, without remuneration from 9 to 30 days.
In the case of Aleaga, legislator Diego Ordóñez describes that in the 730th plenary session of October 7, 2021, the assemblyman against whom he directed the complaint threatened him by stating: “If they did not teach you to respect at home, here in the plenary session of the National Assembly is going to teach him to respect everyone and all his colleagues … ”, all this in reference to the issue that was being discussed about a possible impeachment of the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso.
According to legislator Ordóñez, what Aleaga pronounced in plenary session is a threat that undoubtedly constitutes an offense, and falls within the figure regulated in paragraph 5 of article 171 of the Organic Law of the Legislative Function, since it attacks and degrades The quality of his personal conduct, his ethical references, the education he has received in the bosom of his family and in the formality of the educational system, offends his good name and tries to re-educate him in a way and values that he does not know and surely will not be compatible with their values. And that from the tone of the threat it is evident that the re-education would be violent.
Therefore, it requests the qualification of the offense and the denounced be sanctioned with the maximum of the sanction foreseen in the regulations, that is, the suspension, without remuneration, of 30 to 90 days.
The two processes are held in the Legislative Administration Council, where the evidence of charges and discharges will have to be presented before a resolution. (I)
