Fighting red house ants is not an easy task, but there are recipes to rid the house of small insects. According to disinfectant specialist Petr Valeyko, the most obvious means of dealing with uninvited guests are chemicals, but often people do not want to use them, fearing to harm children and pets.
In this case, you can use folk remedies and tricks. So, Valeyko notes, first you need to determine which way the ants enter the dwelling: a gap in the door, a crack in the frame, along the pipes coming from the basement. Then you can follow the insects to find an anthill, which should be destroyed along with the uterus – the winged ant “queen”. This method will ensure that you get rid of ants. After that, you should wash the house from the presence of aliens, and then keep the apartment clean, paying special attention to packing products that are not put in the refrigerator, washing dishes immediately after eating, and cleaning the floor and work surfaces from crumbs.
As the expert explained, recipes for insect control using boric acid are effective, but the bait should be left out of the reach of children and pets. Vinegar does not kill insects, but only repels. It can be used to block the “entrance” to the house if you can not find the anthill. However, it is important to understand that after some time the ants can return – thanks to a well-developed food memory. Other deterrents are cinnamon and essential oils.
If you can’t find the anthill on your own, you should agree with the specialists on the processing of the premises, removing children and pets from there.
