The investigation into the plane crash of the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin is being conducted by the Investigative Committee and the Federal Air Transport Agency. The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC), which is usually involved in the study in such cases, was not involved at that time, the RBC portal writes.
The publication, citing lawyer Igor Trunov, notes that the commission to investigate the plane crash was formed by the Federal Air Transport Agency. IAC did not join the case because of the peculiarities of the passengers of the aircraft, Trunov noted. According to him, people on board always had weapons, they were not checked at the airport. At the same time, according to the first flushes after the disaster, it becomes clear whether it was about explosives. The conclusion about the causes of the crash could be clear immediately, Trunov added.
He noted that now the Investigative Committee, as part of the investigation of the case, is looking for the perpetrators, the Federal Air Transport Agency is looking for the cause. At the same time, the investigation of the UK is a priority for the court, because the investigation of the aviation authorities cannot appear as evidence, the lawyer explained.
Earlier it was reported that the investigation of the criminal case was entrusted to the investigator of the main department for the investigation of especially important cases of the Investigative Committee Ivan Sibula, who had previously dealt with high-profile cases of plane crashes.
The day before, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there were no conclusions on the investigation of the plane crash with the plane on board which Prigozhin was on board, stressing that one of the versions is a “deliberate atrocity.” It was reported that the investigation is considering various versions of the disaster. Among them are pilot error, technical problems and external influences.
