Roskosmos admits the possibility of repeating the mission to land an automatic station on the South Pole of the Moon in 2025-2026. This was announced by the general director of the state corporation Yuri Borisov, who held a working meeting with the team of developers of “Luna-25” in the NPO. Lavochkin.
According to him, Russian designers and scientists are “burning with the idea of continuing the lunar project.” “One of the options for continuing the program may be the possibility of repeating the mission to land on the South Pole of the Moon,” Roscosmos said in a statement.
It is specified that during the meeting the possible reasons for the unfinished Luna-25 mission, as well as the future prospects of the Russian lunar program, were discussed.
Earlier, Borisov said that the main reason for the collapse of the Luna-25 station was a failure when the engine was turned off.
Recall that on August 20, Roskosmos reported that the interplanetary automatic station crashed when it collided with the lunar surface. On August 23, the Indian station Chandrayan-3 successfully landed on the moon.
