Poland in 2024 will increase the budget for military spending by more than 15%, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has announced. The Polish government approved the draft budget law for 2024.

“Despite many crises, we managed to find income for this year. If you look at the picture of the entire budget, I would focus on three main pillars. The first is physical security broadly understood—the security of our borders and the funding of our military. This is more than 158 billion zlotys ($38.1 billion),” Morawiecki said.

In 2023, the Polish government allocated 137.1 billion zlotys ($33.1 billion) for these needs, so the growth will be about 15.2%.

The Polish Prime Minister noted that since 2015, when this figure was 37 billion zlotys, the budget for military spending has increased by 327%.

He also announced a 12.3% increase in the salaries of employees in the public sector, civil services and law enforcement agencies.

Morawiecki added that 190 billion zloty will be allocated for healthcare, more than 137 billion for the social sphere. Poland’s budget deficit in 2024 will be about 4.5% of GDP, with an annual inflation forecast of 6.6%.
