Underpants need to be changed regularly, and thrown away after a year. This was stated by the family doctor Tatyana Zakharova, writes Medikforum.
The specialist explained that washing does not remove all germs from underwear. And even if you wear panties all day and then wash them, Escherichia Coli bacteria always remain in the fabric.
The expert added that washed underwear contains up to a tenth of a gram of feces. The bacteria that stick to underwear are the same micro-organisms that thrive on intimate areas of the skin, no matter how well a person washes, the doctor noted.
Potentially dangerous pathogens, such as E. coli, accumulate gradually and can potentially lead to urinary tract infections, she said.
Panties should be washed at 60 degrees and changed at the latest every other day, the doctor advised. At the same time, those who have already experienced fungal diseases, such as candidiasis, should especially monitor hygiene: in case of fungal diseases, underwear and socks should be washed separately, as well as at high temperature.
