Station “Luna-25” crashed. The details were reported in Roskosmos.

The publication notes that the station collided with the surface of the moon and ceased to exist. At about 14:57 Moscow time, communication with Luna-25 was interrupted, the message emphasized.

At the same time, the search for the device on August 19 and 20 and attempts to get in touch with it did not give any results.

“According to the results of a preliminary analysis, the device moved into an off-design orbit and ceased to exist as a result of a collision with the surface of the moon,” the message says. It also states that a specially formed interdepartmental commission will deal with the issues of clarifying the reasons for the loss of the Moon.

Luna-25, created at the S.A. Lavochkin Research and Production Association, is the first lunar mission in Russia. It launched on August 11 from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur Region, landing was planned on August 21. The station entered lunar orbit on August 16. It was reported that the station carried out several inclusions of scientific instruments and received the first results of the research. So, “Luna-25” recorded the impact of a micrometeorite on the surface of a natural satellite of the Earth.
