Roskosmos reported that an emergency situation occurred on board the Luna-25, which did not allow the transition to a pre-landing orbit with the given parameters.
“Today, in accordance with the Luna-25 flight program, at 14:10 an impulse was issued to transfer the station to a pre-landing orbit. During the operation, an emergency situation occurred, ”the press service of Roscosmos said in a statement.
They noted that the specialists of the management group are already analyzing the situation.
Luna-25, created at the S.A. Lavochkin Research and Production Association, is the first lunar mission in Russia. It launched on August 11 from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur Region, landing is scheduled for August 21. The station entered lunar orbit on August 16.
It was reported that the station carried out several inclusions of scientific instruments and received the first results of the research. So, “Luna-25” recorded the impact of a micrometeorite on the surface of a natural satellite of the Earth.
