The government has changed the rules for accounting for civil aircraft – now manned aircraft with a structure weight of up to 115 kg must be entered in the register, follows from a decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Prior to this, the minimum weight of a civilian drone to be accounted for was 150 grams, and the maximum was 30 kg.

Ultralight manned civil aircraft weighing up to 115 kilograms include paragliders, hang gliders and single-seat gliders. According to the document, the rules apply both to aircraft built in Russia and to those imported from abroad.

“In 2021, 10, and in 2022, 16 accidents with ultralight manned aircraft were recorded,” the press service of the Ministry of Transport said. The department added that court statistics will simplify the search for owners and increase the safety of citizens.

The changes to the accounting rules will come into effect on September 1, 2024. After this date, the owners of such aircraft will have to register them within 60 days.
