Prosecutors to check actor Alexei Panin for public calls for terrorism

The Moscow prosecutor’s office has been instructed to conduct an inspection against the actor Alexei Panin, who lives in Spain, for grounds to bring him to criminal liability under three articles. This is reported by TASS with reference to a source in law enforcement agencies.

The artist will be checked under articles on public calls for terrorist activities on the Internet, on calls to violate the territorial integrity of Russia, as well as on discrediting the RF Armed Forces.

According to the source, the check will last until the beginning of September, but the timing of its conduct may be extended.

Note that according to Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Panin may face up to seven years in prison, under Part 2 of Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – up to five years in prison, under Part 1 of Art. 20.3.3. – a fine of up to 50 thousand rubles.

Earlier, the Safe Internet League, headed by director Ekaterina Mizulina, demanded to check the interview of TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak with Panin for signs of justifying terrorism. Vitaly Borodin, head of the Federal Project for Security and Combating Corruption, addressed the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding the same interview.
