Representatives of the G20 countries at a meeting in India failed to agree on a final statement condemning Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. It is reported by Bloomberg.

According to media reports, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin was criticized “for promoting a ‘distorted worldview’ about the causes of the energy crisis” and for military actions. The accusations were made by Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economics of Germany Robert Habeck. He noted that Russia and Saudi Arabia objected to an agreement to triple the capacity of renewable generation by 2030, and China prevented the expansion of cooperation in the field of critical raw materials, the newspaper writes, RBC quotes excerpts.

In addition, the G20 did not reach consensus on phasing out fossil fuels. Some states have agreed on the need to phase out the runaway use of oil and gas, but others have felt that the problems can be solved with carbon removal technologies.

The G20 ministerial meeting took place against the background of abnormal heat in Europe, Asia and the United States.
