Ukraine intends to continue the implementation of the “grain deal” without Russia. This, according to the press secretary of the Ukrainian president, Sergei Nikiforov, was stated by Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with African journalists.
According to the president, even without Russia, everything must be done so that this Black Sea corridor can be used.
“We are not afraid,” Zelensky said, adding that ship owners have approached the Ukrainian side and declared their readiness to continue grain supplies.
He recalled that Ukraine and Russia signed grain agreements with the UN and Turkey separately. Thus, Zelensky pointed out, Moscow is “breaking down” its agreements, not with Kiev, but with UN Secretary General António Guterres and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Earlier, the Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine Oleksandr Solsky said that Kiev has a “plan B”, according to which the country is ready to provide insurance guarantees to companies so that they continue grain supplies without Russia’s participation.
Recall that today, July 17, is the last day of the Black Sea Grain Initiative. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the agreements “virtually ceased to operate”, Moscow stops its participation, but will return to the agreement when its conditions are met.
