The fashion nightmare from years ago is back
Many of you surely remember fisherwomen from the past. At the turn of the century, it was one of the most popular options for spring and summer. Over the years, fishermen’s shorts were replaced by much shorter shorts or, later, also cycling shorts.
It is worth mentioning that fisherwomen were most popular in the 1950s. At that time, this type of pants perfectly matched the then prevailing conservative norms of women’s styling. Pants that reached below the knees were therefore a willingly chosen option in spring and summer.
The controversial trend is making a comeback
Hardly anyone expected the return of this trend. However, according to the German edition of the magazine “Vogue”, fishermen are the hit of summer 2023. They are already worn by popular models and it-girls. Various brands are also returning to this trend – among others: Jacquemus, Isabel Marant, Coperni.
It is worth noting that today’s fishermen are slightly different from those of the past. Those popular over 20 years ago usually took the form of tight jeans or tracksuits. On the other hand, the modern ones have a straight or widening downwards loose leg. What’s more, they are rarely equipped with buttons or a zipper at the waist.
