A total of 5,300 police officers will be distributed throughout the Metropolitan District of Quito (DMQ) to prevent the commission of criminal acts.
César Zapata, commander of zone 9 of the National Police, reported that this number of gendarmes will be distributed with greater emphasis in the areas with the highest concentration of people, banks, shopping centers, squares or parks.
In addition, they will create 37 safe corridors, This consists of the presence of police in areas with high circulation of people.
They will also do the special monitoring in 37 banks, 27 shopping centers and 173 surveillance points will be implemented where a greater number of crimes committed is registered.

Zapata reported that operations will continue in the points identified as criminal niches, especially in the La Marín sector and the Quitumbe and Eloy Alfaro districts.
