Russia has “a sufficient supply of various kinds of cluster munitions” and if such ammunition is used by Ukraine, the Russian army can respond in the opposite way. This was stated by President Vladimir Putin in an interview with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.
“If they are used against us, we reserve the right to mirror actions,” Putin said, commenting on the US supply of cluster munitions to the Ukrainian army. The President also recalled that the White House administration itself called the use of such projectiles a crime.
Putin also added that deliveries of cluster munitions to Ukraine have begun, since the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a whole are experiencing a shortage of ammunition. “The United States produces 15,000 a month. They don’t have enough, and Europe already doesn’t have enough,” the president said.
Recall that the start of deliveries of cluster munitions to Ukraine was announced on July 7 by US national security adviser Jake Sullivan. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled the statement of the White House press secretary dated February 28, 2022, in which it was announced that “the use of cluster munitions is a war crime.”
