A storm after Cezary Pazura’s words about LGBT. The actor left many stunned

Some time ago, fans of Cezary Pazura, who is also active in social media, asked him about the 1990s and what attitude Poles had towards LGBT people at that time. The famous Polish actor’s statement turned out to be somewhat controversial.

In addition to performing his acting duties, which he does not lack, one of the most famous Polish actors is also active in social media. Cezary Pazura willingly shares his opinion on various topics with fans. It happens, however, that some statements cause a real media storm.

A wave of controversy after the statement of the Polish actor

In recent days, almost all media write about the famous Polish actor. All thanks to the controversial statement he made in the material he posted on YouTube. One of the Internet users asked him about the society’s approach to homosexuality in the 1990s. His answer was not to everyone’s liking.

“Poles in general were famous for being tolerant”

– The approach of Polish society to homosexuality has always been and – I suspect – is the same, that is, we are tolerant – says the famous Polish actor in the film. After a while, he also mentions that in the 90s he had many gay friends and “the approach was absolutely correct.” – Of course there are incidents, there always will be. These are the incidents that some boor will offend you. A woman spat on me in a store, what should I say? Should I go out with my fellow actors and say that we are being persecuted, that we are spit on and ridiculed? That is not true. (…) Poles have always been famous for being tolerant – he points out.

Cezary Pazura on Equality Marches

In the further part of the statement, the artist also raised several other issues; he referred to, among others for outdoor events celebrating the social acceptance of LGBT people. – In the 90s. there were no Equality Marches, nobody needed them, Neither do homosexualsbecause they felt good. Of course, there was an element of shame, others felt. (…) In the 1990s, no one knew the difference between a homosexual and a heterosexual person. The man was important. says the actor.

– I think that society was surprised that homosexual people went out to manifest their homosexuality in the street. And I think people have a problem with that. Now the question is whether it is justified. I don’t want to talk about it because I don’t know.

The actor ignored several important facts

When Cezary Pazura mentioned the unpleasant incident of spitting he had experienced, he did not pay attention to one important aspect; Hateful behavior should be distinguished from homophobic behavior that targets a person’s psychosexual identity. In addition, although – as the actor claims – “Poles are famous for being tolerant” – he does not pay attention to the legal discrimination of same-sex couples and the campaign against LGBT people, which is fueled by the ruling party and the TVP politicized by them.

Statements of people from the LGBT community and their relatives also allow us to look at the whole situation from a different perspective. Some of them are cited by the Onet portal. – I am afraid that President Kaczyński and his group have not yet said the last word. The Polish state humiliates my son. I dream that my children could live in a normal country, where the equal right to happiness is obvious to everyone – emphasized Agata Misiorna, mother of transgender Florian via Onet.
