Army General Sergei Surovikin is currently not available, he is “resting”. Andrei Kartapolov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, announced this to the SHOT Telegram channel.
“He is resting now, while he is not available,” the deputy answered the corresponding question of the journalist.
We add that Surovikin has not appeared in public since June 23.
A few days later, The New York Times, citing American officials, wrote that Surovikin allegedly knew in advance about the plans of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of Wagner PMC, to organize an armed rebellion. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, for his part, called these statements speculation.
There was also information that Surovikin was allegedly detained. At the same time, the Baza Telegram channel claimed that it had contacted the general’s daughter, who stated that her father had not been arrested, “everything is fine with him.” Later, the executive secretary of the POC Alexei Melnikov denied reports that Surovikin was in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center or in any other detention center.
