BCRP postpones interoperability between banks, savings banks and finance companies until September

He Central Reserve Bank (BCRP) Phase 2 of the so-called interoperability process was postponed until September, which will oblige banks, municipal and finance banks to allow money to be sent to each other through the cell phone number.

In this way, the issuing entity established that the new date of implementation of Phase 2 can be given until September 13, and not until June 30, as had been announced. This decision comes after knowing the Circular 0024-2022-BCRP.

To implement Phase 2 of interoperability, the BCRP have agreed that multiple cybersecurity measures are required between the financial entities involved, in accordance with the requirements of the Superintendence of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS).

The first stage of interoperability began last April between the providers of the digital wallets Yape and Plin. The following digital wallets on the list will now have an additional three months to comply with the regulation.

The Association of Banks of Peru (Asbanc) had announced just a month ago that the process would begin, as planned, on July 1. The idea, for example, is that money can be transferred from Yape to an account at the Interbank bank.
