The application of booster doses against COVID-19 for the population over 18 years of age was advanced a month, this was announced today by the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón.
This was one of the measures that the Government plans to implement against the omicron variant.
“People who are already six months after their second dose can come closer (…), they can come closer to receiving their booster dose, their third dose,” Garzón said in a virtual conversation on Tuesday.

In Ecuador, booster doses are currently being given to health personnel, the elderly, and people with immunosuppression. For people who suffer from moderate to severe immunosuppression, older than 12 years, the same vaccine received in the first and second doses will be used.
