British ministers and politicians have expressed concern over US President Joe Biden’s decision to send cluster munitions to Ukraine.

Thus, one of the leaders of the Labor Party, shadow finance minister Rachel Reeves, said on Sunday in an interview with Sky News that she does not consider such ammunition suitable for deliveries to Kyiv.

One of the most senior leaders of the UK Treasury, Victoria Atkins, in turn, said that London would continue to adhere to the Convention on Cluster Munitions.

Vice Chairman of the Royal Joint Institute for Defense Studies and former national security adviser to the British Prime Minister Peter Ricketts, for his part, noted that he was “not happy with this decision”, but “you can understand why they (US authorities – approx. “Rosbalt”) they do it.”

The day before, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak assured that London would continue to adhere to its obligations under the “convention that prohibits the production or use of cluster munitions and discourages their use.”
