The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reacted sharply to the statement of Bundestag deputy Ralph Stegner, who criticized the US decision to supply Kyiv with cluster munitions. The answer was posted on the social network by Deputy Foreign Minister and former Ukrainian Ambassador to Berlin Andriy Melnyk.

Stegner considered that the use of cluster munitions is “justly prohibited at the international level” and that Ukraine should not be supplied with such weapons, the German MP added.

In response, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine suggested that he sent Stegner “to go to hell with his advice” and recommended that he continue to “sit on the sofa in the Biedermeier style” (this term in political and public life is considered an expression of conservatism, the characteristic features include the idealization of the world of a small person – ed.).

The transfer of cluster munitions to Ukraine on July 7 was announced by National Security Adviser to US President Joe Biden Jake Sullivan. He stressed that Washington recognizes the existence of risks for the civilian population when using such shells, so the United States postponed the decision to transfer them. On the eve of the Pentagon announced the adoption of a package of military assistance to Kiev, which for the first time included 155-millimeter artillery shells of the DPICM type – cluster munitions prohibited by an international convention that 123 countries have ratified, but not the United States and Ukraine.

Earlier, the Times newspaper described the defensive strategy of the Russian Federation, because of which the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “bogged down”.
