The city council of Novosibirsk decided to deprive two deputies, Helga Pirogova and Sergey Boyko (recognized as a foreign agent), who left Russia “due to the loss of confidence”, from their powers.
As Igor Atyakshev, head of the permanent commission of the City Council on local self-government, said during the session, the reason was the failure to provide an income declaration, TASS reports.
The decision was taken by secret ballot. The early termination of powers was supported by 38 deputies, one voted against. The powers of the deputies are terminated from July 4 due to the fact that on this date the employment contracts of their assistants will be terminated. The association “Coalition 2020”, from which Pirogova and Boyko were elected, said they planned to challenge the deprivation of authority in court.
Boyko left Russia back in 2021 after a series of administrative fines against him for organizing illegal actions. In the spring, the Ministry of Justice recognized Boyko as a foreign agent. Pirogov was put on the wanted list by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in August 2022. In July, a report on an administrative offense was drawn up against her under the article on discrediting the RF Armed Forces. Later, a criminal case was initiated under the article “Dissemination of knowingly false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.”
