Some Chinese businessmen during the actions of Wagner PMC on June 23-24 in Russia decided to suspend the shipment of their goods to the country, Reuters reports.

“We thought there would be big problems,” Shen Muhui, head of the Fujian Provincial Trade Organization in southeast China, told reporters. He also said that some businessmen are still “remaining on the sidelines” due to the uncertainty in the future. He did not specify which companies suspended deliveries, but Reuters writes that among them there are manufacturers of auto parts, clothing, and equipment.

An agency source from among American officials said that the Chinese leadership was alarmed by the events in the neighboring country. At the same time, the Chinese Foreign Ministry, commenting on the events related to Wagner, called them “Russian internal affairs.” Beijing stressed that it supports Moscow “in ensuring national stability and achieving development and prosperity.”

Recall that on Saturday, June 24, the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don was captured by the Wagner PMC. This happened against the backdrop of statements by Yevgeny Prigozhin about allegedly inflicted by the Russian Armed Forces missile and bomb attacks on PMC camps – this, however, was denied by both the Ministry of Defense and the FSB. As a result, a criminal case was opened against Prigozhin for organizing an armed rebellion. In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the actions of the “Wagnerites” a criminal adventure.

Later, the press service of the President of Belarus reported that Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Prigozhin and he accepted his proposal to stop the Wagner movement in Russia and take further steps to de-escalate. As Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated after that, Prigozhin would leave for Belarus, and the criminal case would be dropped.
