The Russian armed forces managed to practically stop the civil war, President Vladimir Putin said during an address to the military in the Kremlin.
According to him, the military in difficult times “stand on the path of unrest”, the result of which would be chaos.
The head of state added that during the actions of PMC Wagner, it was not necessary to remove the military from tasks in the special operation zone.
Recall that on Saturday the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don was captured by the PMC Wagner. This happened against the backdrop of statements by Yevgeny Prigozhin about allegedly inflicted by the Russian Armed Forces missile and bomb attacks on PMC camps – this, however, was denied by both the Ministry of Defense and the FSB. As a result, a criminal case was opened against Prigozhin for organizing an armed rebellion. In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the actions of the “Wagnerites” a criminal adventure.
Later, the press service of the President of Belarus reported that Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Prigozhin and he accepted his proposal to stop the Wagner movement in Russia and take further steps to de-escalate. As Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated after that, Prigozhin would leave for Belarus, and the criminal case would be dropped.
