Latvia stops issuing all types of visas to Russians. This was told by the President of the Baltic Republic Edgars Rinkevichs.
According to him, Latvia and its allies are monitoring the situation in Russia.
Rinkevičs specified that border security has been strengthened, visas or entry across the border for Russians leaving Russia in connection with current events will not be considered. At the same time, he stressed that there is no direct threat to Latvia now.
Earlier it was reported that the Estonian authorities decided to strengthen the protection of their borders and urged the country’s citizens not to leave “not to go to any part of Russia.”
Recall that on the eve of the Ministry of Defense issued an appeal to the fighters of PMC “Wagner”. Prior to this, the FSB of Russia opened a criminal case after statements appeared on social networks on behalf of Yevgeny Prigozhin about “defense ministry strikes” on the rear camps of the Wagner group. The Center for Public Relations of the Federal Security Service stressed that the information disseminated is not true.
Currently, the development of the situation is being monitored by the European Union, the United States, Germany, France. Polish President Andrzej Duda held consultations with the allies. The British Foreign Office has warned “of the risk of unrest” in Russia.
