According to Rosstat, in 2022 the volume of the printing and printing services market amounted to 262 billion rubles, which is 14% more than in 2021. Such figures at the round table “On the Field of Mars”, dedicated to the publishing market, were given by the chairman of the Council for Professional Qualifications in the field of publishing, printing production and distribution of printed products.
At the same time, the decline in newspapers was 5%, in magazines and periodicals – 10%. Printing of books, maps, drawings, photographs and postcards grew by 13%, while labels and labels grew by 14%.
“We see that there is growth in the printing market, but it is by no means caused by an increase in the volume of book printing, but due to advertising. Our consumer market is developing rapidly, but the book is going to the reader very badly. Publishing houses are concerned about the fact that there are not enough books to buy from them, ”says Ivanov.
According to him, there are fewer buyers, including due to the fact that book prices have generally increased. Growth was driven by increased printing costs due to the surge in paper prices in 2022 after the start of the NWO, and expensive space rentals that bookstores are forced to accept.
“On the whole, this is a global problem – and in other countries, for example, in Germany, France, Great Britain, large-scale programs are being implemented to popularize reading among the population,” says Markov. “Germans are spending tens of millions of euros promoting the living printed book, and a number of bookstores in France are not paying rent.”
The specialist notes that in Russia at the state level it is worth adhering to an integrated approach in order to support the book and publishing industry – through benefits for printing houses and publishing houses and reading promotion programs.
