Scandal in Opole. The troubadours performed with a doppelgänger? “This is image theft”

A week has passed since the 60th National Festival of Polish Song in Opole, and the event is still widely commented on in the media. The jubilee edition of the event caused much controversy. From the preparations for the performance by Doda, who in a jittery state published the backstage of her cooperation with a director employed by TVP, through the inscription on Justyna Steczkowska’s outfit, to the performance of Troubadours, which caused a real scandal.

Among the stars performing on the Opole stage this year were Troubadours. The band, which he founded together with Sławomir Kowalewski in 1963, celebrated its 60th anniversary. The group’s great hits resounded on the stage, such as “We only know each other by sight” or “Come mum for the oath”.

Scandal in Opole. Instead of the musician, his doppelgänger appeared on the stage

The viewers of Opole were surprised by the fact that Krawczyk’s son, Krzysztof Krawczyk Junior, performed with the Troubadours. The late singer has not performed with the formation since 1973, hence the doubts whether inviting his descendant to the stage was a justified move. The artists were accompanied by the Representative Orchestra of the Territorial Defense Forces, and each of them was dressed in a costume referring to troubadours and musketeers.

However, it was not the presence of Krawczyk’s son that aroused the greatest doubts and indignation. Piotr Kuźniak, a member of the Troubadours band, with “Super Express” that he was replaced on stage with a lookalike. The musician has performed with the group since 1993, where he took the place of Krzysztof Krawczyk after the reactivation of the line-up. The artist guesses what might be the reasons for this turn of events, although he does not hide his surprise.

Piotr Kuźniak: This is image theft

“After 29 years, I was suddenly removed from the band. I don’t know the reasons for this decision, I can only suspect that the new musician is cheaper than me, or maybe it’s because I started performing in the project ‘How to relive everything again…’ with Krzysztof Krawczyk’s greatest hits?” Kuzniak wonders.

It turns out that the concert in Opole was not the first one where an artist who was deceptively reminiscent of a musician removed from the project appeared. “Some time ago I found out that the Troubadours played here and there, that there was a concert in some city where I supposedly performed. This is complete nonsense. I was replaced by a musician who looks like me, but it’s not me! In the media, it is signed with my name, which in my opinion is already crossing the border of image theft.

As we read in “Super Express”, when Kuźniak’s lookalike performed with the Troubadours in Opole, the musician who replaced Krawczyk in the composition gave a concert at the pier in Sopot together with Ryszard Poznakowski. Both musicians were once members of the Troubadours. The man signed as Piotr Kuźniak is drummer Tadeusz Urbański.
