During the negotiations in Istanbul, Moscow and Kyiv did not agree on a long-term lease of Crimea. According to RBC, this was told by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
He stressed that Crimea is an “integral part” of Russia, a Russian region.
The publication recalls that earlier the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced the point with the “rent of Crimea”. He noted that the draft treaty with Ukraine was shown to him by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Normal, even in Crimea – there is some kind of long-term lease there, in Donbass, in the east… A normal contract,” Lukashenka believes. – If it were now – but now it is already impossible. Now it is already the territory of Russia according to the Constitution.”
The Belarusian leader added that Kyiv later abandoned this agreement.
As RBC clarifies, Vladimir Putin said the day before that the preliminary agreement on resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul was indeed previously signed by the heads of the negotiating delegations, but in the end this document was “simply thrown away.”
