The chief of staff of the 35th Army, Major General Sergei Goryachev, died in the Zaporozhye direction in the NVO zone. It is reported by “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” with reference to the message of the chairman of the movement “We are together with Russia” Vladimir Rogov.

Sergey Goryachev is a native of the town of Ozherelye near Moscow. He graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School and the Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He went from commander of a reconnaissance platoon to commander of an airborne battalion of the 76th division. He was deputy commander of a separate motorized rifle brigade of the combined arms army. He headed the operational group of Russian forces in Transnistria. He commanded the 201st military base in Tajikistan, a training center in Khabarovsk.
During the SVO, he was the commander of the 5th separate tank brigade. Then he was appointed deputy commander of the 35th Combined Arms Army (with the rank of major general), later – chief of staff of the 35th OA.
Rogov emphasized that with the death of Goryachev, the Russian army lost a bright and effective military leader who combined the highest professionalism with personal courage.
