The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine laid the responsibility for undermining the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station on Russia. The accusations were made by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar, the post was published in her Telegram channel.

According to Malyar, the explosion was allegedly carried out “in order to prevent the Ukrainian Defense Forces from carrying out an offensive in the Kherson direction and to release the necessary reserves for their transfer to the Zaporozhye and Bakhmut directions.” Thus, the Russian side planned to prevent the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, “narrowing the geography of possible actions” of the Ukrainian army, Maliar added.

Recall that the shelled Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station collapsed on June 6. A number of cities and towns were almost completely flooded. An emergency regime was introduced in the Kherson region.

Moscow and Kyiv accuse each other of breaking the hydroelectric dam. The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a case on the terrorist act, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine – under articles on ecocide. Experts warn of catastrophic consequences, including environmental pollution. According to experts, water can not only bring mines, but also wash dangerous pollution from cemeteries, cesspools and manure storages.
