Western countries, including the US, have done “everything they can” to support Ukrainian troops, President Joe Biden said at a press conference with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
“First of all, Ukrainians should talk about military operations. <…> We have done everything we could, both collectively and individually in the US, to prepare them to support them. <…> In the developing situation, we are very optimistic, ”Biden said, commenting on the question of whether he will ask Congress for new financial assistance to Ukraine, RBC reports.
The American president also added that support is being provided to Kyiv, including for strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the long term. He expressed hope that the US would have the funding “needed to support Ukraine for as long as it takes.”
On June 8, negotiations between Biden and Sunak took place at the White House. This is the first visit by a British prime minister since his appointment in October last year.
