Some banks in Kazakhstan began to refuse to Russian businessmen to accept payments in rubles. The Vedomosti newspaper writes about this, citing sources in local banks.
It is reported that dozens of refunds of ruble payments from Halyk Bank, Fortebank, RBK bank and Bereke bank are recorded.
In some cases, Russian entrepreneurs do not accept payments in Kazakhstani tenge, freezing and returning the transaction is possible, said Alexei Poroshin, member of the General Council of Business Russia and CEO of the First Group company, he is quoted by the publication.
Banks of Kazakhstan do not accept payments in rubles due to the “American financial landing”, which controls that rubles are not converted into dollars and do not go around the world, Alexander Faktorov, founder of the MoneyPort cryptocurrency exchange, believes.
“The official rejection of the Russian ruble could lead to an aggravation of relations with Kazakhstan, which is not necessary for either side,” said Arthur Leer, vice president of the Association of Exporters and Importers. According to him, “if this could be allowed, then most likely it would be a special case, for example, for certain categories of goods or specific legal entities.”
In Kazakhstan, they reacted to the information that appeared. Thus, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Yerulan Zhamaubayev said that banks independently determine the criteria for work. They filter certain points that are related to sanctions issues. According to him, “there were no such installations on the part of the authorities,” the MK official quotes.
