“Look what is happening outside the window: the city is flooded,” the official said, showing the view from the window of the administration, he is quoted by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, a group of rescuers was sent to Novaya Kakhovka. About 300 houses were evacuated there.
Recall that on the night of June 6, the upper part of the hydroelectric power station was destroyed as a result of shelling, the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir itself was not destroyed. It was noted that 14 settlements on the right bank of the Dnieper were under the threat of flooding. In the risk zone – 22 thousand inhabitants, specified the head of the government of the Kherson region Andrey Alekseenko. Groups of rescuers left for Novaya Kakhovka, Golaya Pristan and Alyoshki. The state of emergency was introduced on the territory of the Novokakhovka urban district due to the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the press service of the city administration reported.
