Subjects entered their home and stole some items.
Police personnel went this Wednesday to the San Nicolás citadel, in Latacunga, Cotopaxi province, in order to verify the call for help for the theft of the home of the local mayor, Byron Cárdenas.
It was reported that at the scene the police personnel met with the mayor, who informed them that unknown persons had entered his home and that they stole some items.
Among the stolen objects are a 9 mm caliber Taurus pistol, a 32-inch black television, a suitcase of golf clubs, three girl’s caps, a black induction cooker, seven perfumes of different brands and a black backpack with a beige Samsung brand laptop.
It was also announced that two people who work taking care of the mayor’s house were interviewed, who stated that they left at around 12:30 p.m. for lunch, but that when they returned, after approximately an hour, they noticed the theft of the aforementioned objects.
In addition, it was reported that it was verified that people had entered the home from the back by opening a bathroom window. The thieves, after committing the robbery, would have left through the main door of the room, so there is no forcing of the mayor’s home security.
According to the versions of some residents, the alleged antisocials were mobilized in a white truck with a single cabin, which was communicated through the ECU-911 so that the police units are pending.
Specialized personnel from the different units arrived at the site in order to take the investigation procedure.
It was also reported that the stolen weapon has the respective possession permit in the name of the mayor of Latacunga, which expires in 2026. (I)
