The recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan by Armenia does not give Baku the right to carry out ethnic cleansing against the population of Nagorno-Karabakh. According to Interfax, this was stated by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

“Recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan cannot be interpreted as the right to carry out ethnic cleansing against the population of Nagorno-Karabakh. The Republic of Armenia draws the attention of the international community to the fact that the President of Azerbaijan, with his statement, is preparing the ground for another aggression against the population of Nagorno-Karabakh and depriving them of the right to live freely, safely and with dignity in their homeland,” the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry noted that the President of Azerbaijan “not only threatens the population of Nagorno-Karabakh with genocide, but also calls into question the independence and territorial integrity of Armenia.”

“In fact, the President of Azerbaijan is challenging the entire civilized society, threatening to occupy the new sovereign territories of Armenia by force. Moreover, it is emphasized that even the presence of the EU monitoring mission along the international border between Armenia and Azerbaijan cannot stop the ambitions of satisfying Azerbaijan’s territorial claims against Armenia,” the Foreign Ministry said.

At the same time, Yerevan emphasizes that Armenia is unshakable in the chosen path of establishing peace in the region.

“Unfortunately, as can be seen from the aggressive rhetoric and actions of the leadership of Azerbaijan, this state does not see a solution to problems through the recognition of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia within the boundaries defined by the Alma-Ata Declaration. In order to avoid such a development of events, all partners interested in peace and stability in the South Caucasus are obliged to make unambiguous assessments,” the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted.

Last Sunday, the President of Azerbaijan said that representatives of the Armenian minority living in Karabakh twice refused to have a dialogue in Baku, and there will be no third proposal.

“My representative went and held the first meeting with them, after which we invited them to Baku for dialogue. They refused. After that, we invited them to Baku for the second time. They also refused him. There will be no third invitation. Either they themselves will come with their heads bowed, or now events will develop differently,” Aliyev said.

He noted that representatives of Karabakh can receive an “amnesty” only if they voluntarily give up all their pseudo-positions and apply for Azerbaijani citizenship.

“And then we’ll see. My word is final, everyone knows this, both in Azerbaijan and in the world, including Armenia. We do what we say. Not a single word of ours, as they say, hung in the air, and this word will not hang in the air. If I say that an amnesty can be considered, they should not miss this opportunity. They missed a lot of opportunities, and each time, as they say, we had to hit them on the head to bring them to their senses,” Aliyev said.
