A resident of Volgograd, Nikita Zhuravel, who was detained for burning the Koran on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services, was taken to a pre-trial detention center in Grozny. It is reported by TASS.
Residents of the region gathered near the pre-trial detention center. They were holding posters and banners with inscriptions: “I love the Koran”, “Hands off the Koran”, “We will defend our religion”.
“The Quran is life for every Muslim, so the people of the region came here to protest against attacks on the feelings of believers. Security is 100% provided by law enforcement officers, there is no need to worry about the violation of the rights of the detainee. Everything will be carried out within the framework of the legislation,” said Mansur Soltaev, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Chechen Republic.
Earlier it was reported that by decision of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin, a criminal case against Nikita Zhuravel, suspected of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public actions expressing clear disrespect for society and committed in order to insult the religious feelings of believers), initiated by the investigative department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Volgograd region, was transferred for further investigation to the investigative department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Chechen Republic.
