After the alert, the Police seized knives, mobile phones and drugs.
PORTOVIEJO
Two inmates staged an altercation at the Portoviejo Provisional Detention Center (CDP) last Wednesday night.
Regarding the incident, Fabary Montalvo, head of the Portoviejo Police District, confirmed that they received an alert of a fight within the CDP, generated by both inmates, for which an immediate alert was activated for the mobilization of special groups to said prison, located in the center of the Manabi capital.
“We arrived and carried out the control in the internal part of the center and later they proceeded to search two pavilions, resulting in a collection of sharps, chargers and cell phones, and aside substances subject to control (drugs),” Montalvo said.
He added that the attack between the two inmates was allegedly due to the control inside said prison.
Criminalistics personnel also entered the site to fix the evidence found, while another police group stayed outside that CDP to be attentive to any other news.
The two women who intervened in the confrontation were taken before the competent authorities for the respective flagrante delicto hearing, as they also had two mobile phones among their belongings. (I)
