The ambassadors of the EU countries agreed to extend the abolition of duties on the import of goods from Ukraine for the next year, the representative office of Sweden reported on social networks.
According to the report, this decision “will help Ukraine maintain stable trade relations with the EU and ensure the operation of its economy.”
Brussels abolished duties on imports from Ukraine for a year last May. The temporary liberalization provided for the suspension of all duties that had not yet been abolished in trade between the EU and Ukraine. This applies in particular to agricultural products, vegetables and fruits.
Recall that in April Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria and Slovakia limited the import of Ukrainian agricultural products because of the losses suffered by local farmers. Then the European Commission banned the supply of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine to these countries, as well as to Romania. The restrictions do not apply to the transit of agricultural crops through these countries, they can freely circulate in other European markets. The measures are valid from May 2 to June 5.
