Cantón Sucre resolves to keep mass events and the sale of alcoholic beverages restricted

These measures, according to the local COE, are aimed at caring for and protecting the health of the population of that canton in the north of Manabi.

The Emergency Operations Committee (COE) of the Sucre canton issued new resolutions to prevent COVID-19 infections, after the dissemination of the epidemiological reports of the technical health table 2 on current health in that Manabi town.

These measures, according to the local COE, are aimed at caring for and protecting the health of the population of that canton in the north of Manabi.

The Sucre canton counts 1,500 cases of COVID-19 of the 34,694 detected in Manabí, between February 2020 and November 21, 2021.

Andrea Quijije, secretary of the cantonal COE, pointed out that there is an increase in cases of COVID-19 according to Health analyzes and that these measures taken aim to counteract future infections that result in greater demand for health services.

In the resolutions, the board prohibited all massive public events that generate an agglomeration of people in the canton and its parishes until the technical board of Health 2 determines otherwise.

As part of the resolutions, the COE resolved to suspend the sale of alcoholic beverages from Thursday, November 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29. This measure will govern in the following weeks on the same days until the Health 2 technical table deems it appropriate.

In addition, restaurants will also operate until 11:59 p.m. with 30% capacity, while tolerance centers, bars and nightclubs will open until the same time with 25% capacity. In addition, a vaccination card will be required for both clients and workers.

Likewise, the COE urged compliance with the protocols drawn up by the national COE for the biosecurity reactivation of public events, schedules and capacity established by the Municipality.

Regarding transportation, the capacity will be 50% in urban transport and biosafety protocols are maintained in taxis.

The COE also ordered that sporting events be held without public, verifying that participants present their vaccination card. Openings and awards are also restricted at these events.

Likewise, the sports and training schools in the Sucre canton are temporarily suspended.

The cantonal board also exhorted the Ministry of Public Health and citizens to continue with the vaccination programs in the Sucre canton.

In Manabí, 70.7% of the population aged 5 and over with the two doses of the vaccine and 84.2% with the first dose. (I)
