Scientists continue to discover new ways to reduce symptoms or slow down the cognitive decline associated with dementia. In an interview with MedikForum, nutritionist Igor Strokov listed measures that can be taken to keep the brain in good shape.

The doctor shared that the very first thing he does daily to prevent the condition is a “big breakfast.” He, in particular, starts the day with protein-rich eggs or smoked fish.

Even though the recommendations suggest that you should aim for 45 to 55 grams of protein per day, Strokow says more protein is needed. Especially with age, to keep your bones and muscles in good shape.

The results of the study showed that a diet rich in protein, such as meat and legumes, can help prevent brain disease. The research team found that participants with higher levels of dietary protein were less likely to have high levels of Aβ (amyloid protein) in their brains.
