On Thursday, May 25, at 13:00, a press conference “Three Challenges for Seniors in a Modern City” will be held at the media center “On the Field of Mars” (Marsovo Pole, 3).

Most often, elders – people over fifty years old – are spoken of in the context of pensions, health, and poverty. But it is important to discuss other aspects of their lives, especially since in St. Petersburg every third resident is an elder, and the way of life of modern elders has changed a lot.

On May 28, a large open-air festival “Seniors in the City” will take place, which is being prepared by the team of the Good City Petersburg Foundation together with charitable organizations and active senior citizens of St. Petersburg. Before the event, we will discuss:

— Employment and career: how to develop a fairer labor market for seniors, what is its current state, directions and development prospects;

– Relationships, love, friendship, family: how modern elders build family relationships, how they relate to new acquaintances.

– Meanings, self-development, an interesting life: how the image of a modern senior city dweller is changing, what stereotypes about old age are becoming a thing of the past, what the elders really want.

We will talk about dignity in a broad sense – about the right of elders to be active, bright, free, build relationships, change careers, find a new hobby, feel comfortable in public spaces and in the city.

The press conference will be attended by:

Daria BuyanovaHead of the program “Senior” Charity Fund “Good City of Petersburg”;

Masha Buzunovahead of the press service of the North-West hh.ru;
