Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the supply of F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv is “not the main issue”, more important is “global support”, RBC reports with reference to the German edition of Tagesschau. At the same time, he added that there are no F-16 fighters in Germany, which Kyiv asks to supply, and he cannot say whether other countries will transfer these aircraft.
Scholz also said that the decisions taken at the G7 summit in Japan are “a very good, clear desire for a better world.”
According to the chancellor, this aspiration “will be supported by economically strong democracies” from the G7. At the same time, Scholz added that these countries are not the only ones that “have something to say,” and recalled the importance of cooperation with “the democracies in Asia, Africa and America.” “We can say that we are talking on par with important countries of the future world, which also have many more inhabitants than many G7 countries,” he added.
In addition, Scholz spoke separately about China, “whose economic success no one considers negative.” However, all countries must adhere to the idea that no borders are changed by force, he stressed.
